Absolutely critical

Everytime I manage a new group, this is one of 4 books I buy for them - tell them to read - and then quiz them to see if they read it.This is the bible on how to manage a software development project. I don't agree with it 100% and it misses a few things I think are important. But if a team followed this book religously, they would be miles ahead of most software development teams.Read it and then read it again.

Title: The UNIX Programming Environment
Publisher: Prentice Hall
Authors: Brian W. Kernighan, Rob Pike
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
One of the most influential technical books ever written

In addition to providing a broad, albeit detailed introduction to UNIX, this book contains some of the most well-written and documented C code for students of the language. One chapter illustrates the construction of a simple calculator which gradually evolves into a stack-based virtual machine with a lex/yacc-based instruction set interpreter. The reader is guided through both the theory and practice of software design by demonstrating the almost "organic" growth of a complex software system out of a simpler one.
A definite must read.

This book pays for itself by increasing your eBay profits

As someone who recently became a millionaire by buying and selling on ebay using my own system, I can tell you this book is great. It gives a complete overview of starting an eBay business and uses an easy to follow style. They do miss one critical tool though that makes all the difference, that tool is www.powersnipe.com. eBay auctions are often lost in the last few seconds of the auction because the majority of people wait until the last seconds to place their bids. This tool bids for you at the last second and ensures you win, a big time saver and the biggest key to success. So buy this book and check out this tool for a complete picture.

Fabulous Resource!!!

We just completed our migration to Exchange 2003, and this book helped us plan the process, gave us a solid outline on how to test the migration process, and walked us through our live production migration. The book also helped us better understand the administration tools in Exchange 2003 along with tips on ongoing maintenance and management practices that we have put in place. This was the best IT book I've ever owned, packed with great information!
