Title: Effective TCP/IP Programming: 44 Tips to Improve Your Network Programs
Publisher: Addison-Wesley Professional

Rating: 4/5
Customer opinion - 4 stars out of 5
Strong recommended.

It's easy to write TCP/IP communications into an application using sockets, but deceptively difficult to write it correctly. As anyone who has done TCP/IP development can tell you writing good, solid, high performance TCP/IP code is no easy task. It may look easy because the sockets API is fairly simple to use, but don't be fooled. This book goes a long way towards helping you write high quality TCP/IP code. The book presents 44 tips, which are a treasure trove of information, on the dos and don'ts of TCP/IP development. If you do TCP/IP development at a professional level this book is a must have. I hope this helps J.

Title: HTML for the World Wide Web with XHTML and CSS: Visual QuickStart Guide, Fifth Edition
Publisher: Peachpit Press
Authors: Elizabeth Castro
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
Elizabeth Castro made learning HTML EASY!

I knew nothing about making a website before reading HTML 4 by Elizabeth Castro. I found it to be written in such a way that it was very understandable, even simple. The author also uses good illustrations that shows you what the web page will look like if you write a certian html tag (which is invaluable). But, no matter how well the book has been written, we will still get stuck sometimes. Knowing this, Elizabeth Castro has not left us out there in the cyber wilderness on our own; she not only has a website where you can post your question for others to help you (or you may find your own question already answered there); but she also will answer your questions HERSELF, via e-mail. Yes, she has definately made learning html not only easy, but I really had fun with it too. (surprised me!)

A must-own reference book

I agree with Silona, this is THE reference book for DHTML! Not a book for learning DHTML, but what you want handy when you have to look something up while working on a project. I also highly recommend his "Javascript Bible," which is a great book for learning Javascript.
