Title: Design for Communication : Conceptual Graphic Design Basics
Publisher: Wiley
Authors: Elizabeth Resnick

This work contributes to graphic design education

I am particularly impressed with the strength of the sections and introductory texts for each section. It is very cleverly planned and well written. More importantly, the strength of the book for me lies on the fact that the assignments do not illustrate but on the contrary, strengthens your observations, aims/objectives, methodology, structure and propositions for the design education.
The book is also in excellent record of what goes on in design colleges in terms of methods of working (to record students statements and instructors evaluations is, on its own right, a great contribution to knowledge within the design education). The interaction between students statements and instructors evaluations are very important for me. The two different texts create a dialogue within the book.
The book brings theory and practice together for the students and educators which is very rare in design publication and education and even more so at the BA/ undergraduate level..
Thank you for your great work!

Title: The Elements of Statistical Learning

Pedagogical Disaster

This book is an excellent survey of the huge area of statistics / computer science called statistical learning. The discussion is interesting and accurate, but not too theoretical. It is the best book to date for a general audience with a reasonable math/stat background. One of the strengths is the wide variety of topics covered; it is very comprehensive. If there is a weakness, it is that depth is limited. Plenty of references are provided for further study, and the authors maintain a website. Recommended as a reference or a starting point for an applied statistician or mathematician, or as a text for a first course in the subject.

Title: Configuring SAP R/3 FI/CO: The Essential Resource for Configuring the Financial and Controlling Modules
Publisher: Sybex Inc
Authors: David Nowak, Quentin Hurst, Nowak
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5

I agree wholeheartedly that this is far and away the best book on SAP FI/CO that I've read. I've been an SAP consultant for a few years, and this book is still very helpful in explaining the how's and why's of configuration. It's well written and very thorough! Certainly worth the price.....
