Title: Hacking: The Art of Exploitation

The 'Anarchist's Cookbook' of Exploits.

Although I needed a better fundamental foundation for understanding what's discussed in this book, Mr. Erickson's banter eases someone like me into the more technical speak. This book is the meat and potatoes for anyone who wishes to really know their stuff when it comes to exploits and hacking in general. Keep that napkin handy, because it's going to get a little messy. :)

Title: The Code Book: The Science of Secrecy from Ancient Egypt to Quantum Cryptography
Publisher: Anchor
Authors: SIMON SINGH
Rating: 5/5

And easily read, informative history.

Singh has put together a wonderful history of cryptography in this book. It includes examples and stories of the earliest, most primitive cryptography, to a discussion on what the future holds (e.g., the effect of quantam computers on code-making and -breaking).
Most importantly, however, Singh has made this book very easy to read. Singh is a very effective teacher, breaking down the complicated aspects of cryptography into step by step processes, requiring a very limited background in mathematics to be understandable.
Anyone curious about cryptography or espionage, or any other subject of that sort should make this book their starting point, from which they will develop a very good background for cryptography and cryptanalysis.

I think this book is helpful for beginner.

I am a junior university student major in computer science. I just ordered a Chinese version of this book. Even though I waited 10 weeks for its arrival from China to Texas, I consider it is worthy after a rush review. The book sure clear up some misundersanding for me. As my opinion, if you are a student like me, after you have down reading your text book, this book would be a good choice for further improvement.
