Good Discussion of Both Products

These two packages are hands down the first choice among professionals for web design. Photoshop is easily the most popular image editing and creation application, and has enjoyed the unrivaled position at the top of the design industry for years. Dreamweaver is the favored took for taking all these beautiful graphics and arranging them for display on the web.

This is about a two (maybe three) day book, if you already have some knowledge of Photoshop. Add another day or two if you do not. One really strong point in the book is its concern with things like how fast the web page loads. So many earlier web sites were so extensively graphics oriented that people got tired of waiting for them to load. The site being designed in the book uses small but carefully designed graphics to add eye appeal.

Great for Educators!

This basic guide to design principles is not only clearly written, it "walks the walk" as well as "talks the talk". That is, the basic principles are demonstrated clearly by the book's many "before and after" graphic examples. It is non-technical and easy to understand. It focuses on a few core ideas that will help anybody improve his or her ability to design attractive printed material. There is some overlap between this and the author's book on web design (The Nondesigners' Web Book), but I found both worthwhile.

One of life's few bargains

An outstanding training tool for Cisco networks. Does more than you expect. The only competing product has less functionality and looks like it was written in someone's garage with Visual Basic. You won't regret buying this product.

Great book for beginning programming on a *NIX platform.

If you haven't done much programming on a *NIX box, then this book is for you. If you have, but just need an intro to Perl, it's still pretty good, but very light reading - you might as well buy a copy of Programming Perl at the same time, so you can just shift over when you're done. Especially good if you have no programming experience whatsoever, but don't fault the book for not teaching you *NIX - it's not meant to do that.
