A GREAT textbook

This textbook was the reccomended text for my operating systems course in college. Since I didn't show up for many of the classes (too much homework, too little time...), I've learned most of the material from this book, and it proved to be more than enough - both for doing the exercises (which were considered to be the hardest ones required for our degree), and for passing the final. I had a VERY easy time understanding the material, and applying it in whatever task I was doing.

Core Servlets and Javaserver Pages

I am a QA Engineer and was just learning JSP. This book was easy to read and the material was presented in a very organized manner. I use a lot of examples and they actually work (unlike some of the other books that I had purchased). Great Book !

Title: Creating Motion Graphics with After Effects (With CD-ROM)

Using After Effects... then you need this book.

I think that this book is an absolute must as a reference guide for those that are already experienced AE users (nobody can remember all of those short-cuts) and a great place for the novice to learn the product. I already own several other AE books and this one is by far the best that I have seen to date. The layout is superb, easy to use and easy on the eyes. There are lots of 4/color examples and it comes with a CDROM that contains lots of free Ae 3rd party filters and 22 project files which go along with the tutorials.

Title: Access 2000 Developer's Handbook Volume 1: Desktop Edition
Publisher: Sybex Inc
Authors: Paul Litwin, Ken Getz, Mike Gilbert
Rating: 2/5
Customer opinion - 2 stars out of 5
The Getz and Litwin franchise is looking a little tired

I have the Access 97 version of this book and thought it was time to upgrade - I needn't have bothered. 95% of this book is the same as the earlier edition. Apart from a very basic chapter on ADO there was very little to distinguish it from the 97 version. In fact a there are parts of the book that talk about "cool new features" that were introduced in Access 95! If you don't have an earlier edition of this book, and you are a hardcore developer, then by it's a worthwhile purchase - otherwise try volume 2. Maybe it contains all the "cool new features"
