The best introduction to database management

MySQL is a wonderful database management system, and this book is the perfect complement to it. As a professional database administrator, I refer to this book nearly every day. With the combination of this book, and one of the many fine PHP references available, you'll be able to set up a solid, working, Web-based database system in a matter of days to weeks.

Everything you need and some you dont. Still worth every $

Ranting:Spent nearly two weeks reading this 800+ page beast. It gives you EVERYTHING you need to know about the material on the A+ exam and a whole lot of extra material (most useful, some not, but all informative). It covers every word in the exam objectives to the 't' without a doubt the best a+ book i have (i have 3 others). Havent taken the Exam yet, but I have taken 2 practice exams, including one in this book and have scored almost perfectly both times.
The only major fault with this guide was that the author found it necessary to repeat things frequently (i believe the phrase "check the documentation that comes with the hardware" appears about 100 times in this book). It also has a few MINOR overcites (ex: diff. between SIMM and DIMM isnt clearly explained - who cares?) Overall a FANTASTIC BOOK if you can ignore the above. Either take a few week long course or buy this book.

Title: Mastering Regular Expressions, Second Edition
Publisher: O'Reilly
Authors: Jeffrey E. F. Friedl
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
Friedl once again wrote the ultimate book on the subject

Regular Expressions are a powerful tool, but not a topic that easily lend itself to a light reading. Notwithstanding the author's very informal writing style and genuine enthusiasm, a few sections can be dry or even cryptic (especially for beginners). Anyway, Friedl once again wrote the ultimate book on the subject, with an intimate knowledge of Regular Expressions, an outstanding attention to every detail and a huge amount of useful and relevant examples. Compared to the previous edition it covers new features but also expand on a broader range of programming languages, with dedicated chapters for Perl, Java and .NET; PHP, Phyton and Ruby get some coverage as well
