Quite simply the best book on software development

I bought the first edition in 1995 and read it cover to cover at least 3 times. The 2nd Edition is even better. EVERY software developer should read this book. I have over 20 years experience as a developer and this book contains many gems.

If you write software of any sort for a living, buy this book.

Wonderful graphics and clear instruction lists!

Elizabeth Castro has a clear way of presenting technical information that made it possible for a computer illiterate like me to learn HTML with her first book. HTML 4 For the World Wide Web goes on to show much more, in the same slim format! The graphics make it easy to understand, and the numbered instructions make HTML possible for anyone.

A dry subject made interesting

There are like a zillion CLR books out there and overall, it's not the type of subject that normally keeps you glued to it. When I got Jeffrey Richther's Microsoft .NET Framework book, I was convinced no one was going to outdo him. Well, it's a close call, but I think they are both Superb books by excellent authors. I've purchased Don's stuff before and really liked it. This book lived up to its expectations.
I think his ability to communicate some of the more obscure areas of the CLR in a very clear matter is what makes this book shine. This book can be understood by anyone because of the writer's gift for writing...but that's not to say it's a novice's book. Wherever you are in the .NET learning curve, there's something for you in this book.
If you really want to learn the CLR, this is a great place to start.

Unbelievably helpful

The book was unbelievably helpful for my small business. I found the answer to 3 questions that were really bothering me. And, I found the CD-ROM attached to the book very valuable for some employment forms and agreements. The author made some difficult concepts clear and interesting, which is the hallmark of the Dummies series. The forms alone probably will save me lots of money in legal bills.
